Apple's iOS 7 represents the most dramatic update to date of the software that powers iPhones and iPads. It also appears to be one of the buggiest.
When released last month, iOS 7 generally drew rave reviews from tech analysts, including yours truly, who liked its clean look and new features. But since almost Day One, users have complained about a smattering of problems with the new software.
Do a search on Google for "iOS problems," and you'll find a litany of them.
Hackers quickly discovered a flaw in the iOS 7's lock screen that allowed users to gain access to the device without having to enter a passcode. More recently, some users complained that iMessage, the text and multimedia messaging service built into Apple's devices, refuses to send messages.
Apple quickly issued an update to iOS 7 to fix the lock-screen problem, and it told The Wall Street Journal last week it was working on an update to fix the iMessage problem.
But users are encountering plenty of other problems that Apple has yet to address. Many have complained that the new software drains the battery life of their devices or slows them down noticeably.
Worse, many users with visual impairments or motion sensitivity say that iOS 7's new design has made using their phones difficult or even impossible. Some say the new software makes them dizzy or nauseous because apps zoom into view when launched and zoom out of view when they return to their home screens.
Other users -- including two of my co-workers -- have complained that text labels in iOS 7 are difficult to read because they are too small or too faint. And one reader said a family member of his who suffers from some vision loss is unable to use his phone because the new color schemes, some of which involve placing gray or blue text on a white background, don't provide enough contrast to allow him to read what's on the screen.
I've run into problems with iOS 7 myself. My initial installation of the software on my iPhone 5 failed, and I had to completely delete everything on my phone and start over. Meanwhile, my new iPhones 5S has crashed several times, something I used to run into frequently on PCs but don't ever remember seeing happen on an iPhone. The crashes seem random; I'll be using an app or switching between apps, and all of a sudden I'll see a black screen with the white Apple logo on it. (continued...)

Sleek and slow! Takes so long to update apps and books. I have a real hard time defending apple with this crud! It's almost like the design team wanted to conform to everyone else. So true that Steve jobs would not put up with this and they seriously have lost their edge.

It has been bad enough that I am now going to ebay my iphone and switch. I feel hugely pissed off that I cannot go back to my old software.

I have to delete the same voicemail several times. Childish apps. Lost all my music during upgrade.

Staying with iOS 6 until iOS 7 is sorted.

My email accounts just disappear for no reason. I have to power down to get them back. Apps just close for no reason and the voicemail interface is so whitewashed I don't know if I'm listening to a Vmail or hitting call back. I fixed the battery drain, but problems with email persist. Never had issues before.

This article only states one thing that cannot be fixed by themselves. You change your text size in your settings to see it better and also reduce the motion.

iOS7 sucks at this point. If Steve Jobs was still with us, he would fire the whole bunch responsible for it.

I am down right furious with iOS7. It used to be that Apple products were the poster child of stability. My phone is randomly crashing, apps are randomly crashing, and my text messaging is unusable due to crashing every time! I would love to go back to this pre windows style OS. At least that was stable.

I wish I could unload the software. I need to be near an outlet 3 hours into my day. I can't read the header on email and the people in the apple store act like I am speaking in tongues. Sad to say unless fixed asap, it's on to another brand.

I thought I was the only one. But I am experiencing phone call drop out and missing many calls as it goes straight to the mail box instead without ringing first.

Currently I have the 4s. I haven't upgraded to IOS7 yet, b/c of all of the horror stories I am hearing/reading about. Does anyone regret upgrading and can you go back to 6? Wondering if I should just keep putting it off, especially since I'm going to be traveling in a few days for a week. Advice?

The new music system is so flawed and it makes me mad. Normally I download new songs off of iTunes and it gets automatically put into the purchased playlist. Then I update my normal playlists by simplyly going to the purchased playlist and adding into it. Now I cant, I actually have to scroll through all 2000 of my songs or artists to individually add them. Which proves to be annoying when you shazam bands you don't know and buy their songs and when making a playlist I cant remember all of the new bands names. Also, it looks like they switched the add from playlist to composers. Who the hell cares or would use the composer feature over the playlists? Also, scanning through a song is so annoying now. It also crashes every single time I hit save on a completed playlist, I don't have to redo the playlist because it does save, but instead I am waiting for it to reload up again. It also crashes after adding a single song too sometimes. Example, its crashed 5 times on me when I added 5 songs. That is completely unexplainable taking into account that before your update it was fine, now its stupidly glitches. When I launch apps sometimes, they don't open but instead my background goes black and the apps enter their "wiggle" mode and display all apps like I am going to delete them. Fix this apple

I rate apple IOS 7 from a quality point of view in the same level of debacle as Microsoft's VISTA. It is slow, it has many debilitating bugs that prevent one productively working with it. Very disappointing. I think this goes far enough as to dishonour the late Steve Jobs. I hope they fix it rapidly. Thankfully I have an Android phone.

I can't receive emails on my ipad now since I downloaded the latest software. Very frustrating.

iOS 7 has converted my iPAD into luggage. It's always flat now - the great thing about the device before iOS7 is that it was always charged.
