Waterloo, ON -- BlackBerry today announced the availability of a new security solution that separates work and personal apps and data on the iOS and Android platforms. Secure Work Space for iOS® and Android™ is a new option for BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES10) offers competitive differentiators where it matters most to clients: security, user experience and total cost of ownership. BlackBerry designed Secure Work Space to meet the management, security and cost needs of the CIO, and the user experience and functionality that employees demand.

The solution has been trialing globally with BlackBerry customers since early 2013, including Netherlands-based e-office mobile b.v. For the past 22 years e-office has been creating virtual working environments for their clients, and to ensure they are always staying current on their clients' mobility needs, e-office took part in BlackBerry's early adopter program for Secure Work Space.

"The Secure Work Space solution builds on BlackBerry's BES10 enterprise mobility management platform and we saw BlackBerry's secure infrastructure offered our company the best containerization solution to help mobilize our multi-platform environment while maintaining a great user experience," said Thierry Lammers, Director and co-founder, e-office mobile. "We're looking forward to deploying this solution across our organization in the coming months and bringing the separation of work and personal data to life on iOS and Android devices."

According to Forrester, Inc., in 2016 350 million employees will use smartphones and 200 million will bring their own devices to the workplace(1). As the ideal "bring-your-own-device" (BYOD) mobile security solution, Secure Work Space provides organizations the flexibility to embrace BYOD without sacrificing security. On a personal iOS or Android device, users with Secure Work Space get integrated email, calendar and contacts for ultimate productivity, as well as a secure browser and attachment viewing, and editing with BlackBerry's Documents To Go. These standard apps can be deployed with confidence to both BYOD and corporate users together with other apps chosen by the company, because corporate data is separated and controlled within the Secure Work Space container.

BlackBerry is working closely with enterprise app partners such cloud storage company Box. "With BlackBerry Secure Work Space, enterprise customers can use Box on their iOS and Android smartphones while knowing their important content is protected with best in class BlackBerry security," said Whitney Bouck, Vice President & GM, Enterprise at Box. "Box and BlackBerry have a long standing partnership, and we are excited to extend our leadership in content management to an even broader audience with this secure mobile solution from BlackBerry."

BlackBerry keeps businesses moving, providing three layers of security at the device, server and network level. Secure Work Space leverages the same trusted behind-the-firewall connection available with BlackBerry devices and extends BlackBerry security capabilities for data-at-rest and data-in-transit to other mobile platforms. The Secure Work Space container is managed through BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10, BlackBerry's Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) platform that provides multi-platform device management, app management and security. Since launching in January 2013, more than 18,000 BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 servers have been installed by customers around the world.

"Mobility is fundamentally transforming how we live and work. As our dependency on mobile solutions grows, and as a greater variety of mobile devices enters the workplace, the need for solutions to manage and secure these devices has never been greater", said David J Smith, EVP, Enterprise Mobile Computing at BlackBerry. "In today's bring-your-own-device world, Secure Work Space is a differentiated solution that brings key elements of the BlackBerry security platform to a range of devices based on the iOS and Android operating systems."

The Secure Work Space solution also enables customers to save considerable effort, administration and expense as they no longer need to configure and manage expensive VPN infrastructures to provide mobile device access to data and applications that reside behind their corporate firewalls. With end-to-end enterprise mobility management, easy deployment, and BlackBerry's renowned global technical support model, BlackBerry continues to offer innovative, secure and reliable solutions to enterprises and governments around the world.

Key features of Secure Work Space for iOS and Android:
EU Containerization, corporate and third party application-wrapping without the need to modify source code, and secure connectivity through the BlackBerry infrastructure for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets
EU Secure and integrated applications for email, calendar and contacts, secure browsing and attachment viewing and editing
EU Full device and application management for BlackBerry, iOS and Android devices through the single intuitive BES10 management console including reporting and dashboard capabilities
EU Complimentary BlackBerry Care Support for BES10, providing 12x5 telephone access to technical experts (technical support upgrade options available), responsive online support, access to training materials, productivity and diagnostic tools.
