LG Offers Sneak Peak at New Google TV Lineup

LG Offers Sneak Peak at New Google TV Lineup

The coming LG televisions feature a redesigned Magic Remote, which incorporate a complete QWERTY keyboard along with point-and-click functionality. And the enhanced natural language recognition in the new LG TVs augments Google's search functionality. LG said the voice-based capabilities multiply the effectiveness of the PrimeTime quick guide.

Neustar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR) is a trusted, neutral provider of real-time information and analysis to the Internet, telecommunications, information services, financial services, retail, media and advertising sectors. Neustar applies its advanced, secure technologies in location, identification, and evaluation to help its customers promote and protect their businesses. More information is available at www.neustar.biz.

Google may have sold off its Motorola Home division, but that doesn't mean the search engine giant is giving up on its strategy to penetrate the living room in new ways. Google TV is alive and well and LG Electronics plans to introduce an extended lineup at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

LG says its new Google TV models, GA7900 and GA6400, deliver an intuitive user experience at various sizes that meet changing consumer demands. For example, Google's latest platform and LG's redesigned Magic Remote with QWERTY keyboard work together to offer more-effective voice search and a PrimeTime quick guide.

Meanwhile, an updated Smart Home interface now offers what LG calls streamlined access to video on demand, YouTube and more apps. The idea is to make it easier for consumers to access more content. The premium LG Google TV models will even offer a Cinema Screen design for a more modern look and feel.

Hyping Google TV

Havis Kwon, president and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment, said in the product announcement that the latest version of Google TV offers a "stellar user experience" and is "groundbreaking in its simplicity."

The TVs' new Smart Home interface offers varied types of "cards" that act as folders for apps and other content. The new My Interest Card can display information such as real-time weather and customizable news.

A redesigned Magic Remote, which combines a complete QWERTY keyboard with the benefits of the Magic Remote's point-and-click control, lets users navigate the interface. And the enhanced natural language recognition augments Google's search functionality. LG said the voice-based capabilities multiply the effectiveness of the PrimeTime quick guide to make browsing through the more than 100,000 available movies and TV episodes on LG Google TV easier.

Faster Internet Experience

LG Smart TV's dual-core CPU means faster Internet browsing and video streaming than previous models. The additional processor power also allows the TruPicture XD Engine to process images quickly. That, LG said, means richer colors, deeper contrast and greater overall picture clarity.

LG has applied its advanced Cinema Screen design to the premium model to offer a sleek, modern look. This design works to minimize width of the bezel, giving the TV a streamlined appearance while creating the impression of a borderless display.

The LG Smart TV with Google TV offers connectivity options and can connect to a variety of devices wirelessly. With the latest YouTube app update for Android, for example, smartphones and tablets can be automatically paired with Google TV over the same home network via Wi-Fi, making it easy to send videos from your device to your TV.

Finally, LG is betting gamers will tap the OnLive app that's pre-installed. The app turns the TV into a gaming platform without a console, making hundreds of high-quality video games available instantly from the cloud. The LG TV also offers Cinema 3D TV functionality and employs technology to give movie buffs and gamers a 3D effect without the distracting flicker.
