CA Technologies is out with a cloud Relevant Products/Services management service that the company says can be implemented in weeks instead of months. The Software-as-a-Service offering provides what CA said is a consumer-like experience intended to encourage adoption.

The service is intended to streamline service desk operations by making task completion more efficient and by offering automation capabilities. As with other cloud services, capacity can be adjusted and upgraded as needed, and upfront costs are avoided.

"The explosion of applications and devices deployed in the enterprise Relevant Products/Services has made service delivery a cornerstone of employee and business Relevant Products/Services productivity," said Lokesh Jindal, general manager of IT Business Management. CA's solution, he said in a statement, "unlocks the full potential of SaaS by focusing on what matters to customers -- employee satisfaction, speed of deployment and reduced cost of ownership."

'Configure, Don't Code'

The service, designed to use a "configure, don't code" approach, features a user interface that includes search and collaboration Relevant Products/Services, and a mobile Relevant Products/Services version that provides services, assets and support from anywhere for users. "Drag and drop" functions are used for building workflows that the company says take place in minutes, and a guide facilitates the initial setup. There is also asset management and discovery, and self-service reporting and dashboards.

A free trial is being offered, and the service is now available.

In its announcement, CA cited the experience of IT managed service provider Cirrity. Its president and CTO, Dan Timko, told news media that, "all too often, sound service management adoption suffers with sophisticated solutions that may be stacked with features but are just too difficult to use and costly to maintain." Instead, he said, the CA Cloud Service Management "gave us the capabilities we needed to service our customers while also allowing for an accelerated implementation and time to value."

Windows XP, Mobility

In May, the company released its Desktop Migration Manager to assist IT departments in transitioning from Windows XP to other operating systems. The solution provided for the management, upgrading and maintenance of laptop and desktop systems, and was made available free to "all enterprises affected by Microsoft Relevant Products/Services's decision to discontinue support for Windows XP."

Earlier this year, CA Technologies launched its Management Cloud for Mobility, which consisted of three solution suites -- Enterprise Mobility Management, Mobile DevOps and Enterprise Internet of Things. Enterprise Mobility Management provides for the management and security Relevant Products/Services of mobile devices, their apps and data Relevant Products/Services, which the company said could increase cost efficiencies, enable mobile productivity and secure Relevant Products/Services a company's infrastructure Relevant Products/Services.

Mobile DevOps assists in accelerating development and deployment of applications, using a variety of development tools, languages and methodologies for building and testing API-based mobile apps. Enterprise Internet of Things, which is not yet out, is designed to facilitate the inclusion of Internet-connected devices by managing and securing billions of machine-to-machine interactions.
