In a move to compete more effectively in the cloud Relevant Products/Services-based storage Relevant Products/Services market, Box just announced a new app integration that aims to help customers collaborate and access business Relevant Products/Services critical content in the cloud more conveniently.

Box Embed, which relies on HTML5 framework to make it possible to embed the Box experience, is now officially supported in Salesforce.com, the industry's most widely used system for customer Relevant Products/Services relationship management (CRM Relevant Products/Services). Salesforce customers can now download Box for Salesforce on AppExchange, Salesforce.com's business apps marketplace.

"Box's ecosystem of platform partners enables us to act as a central hub for business content," said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. He went on to say that the Salesforce integration delivers an amazing collaboration experience across the enterprise Relevant Products/Services and promised to keep innovating in conjunction with the CRM provider.

Here's how it works: The new integration leverages Box Embed to add all the collaboration and workflow functionality of Box within a Salesforce record to make relevant content, as well as Box's collaboration and workflow features, available to customers.

Box for Salesforce offers collaboration tools inside a Salesforce record, including Box Edit, comments, tasks and access management. The solution also offers users a preview of files from within user records and simplified navigation through an entire Box folder tree without leaving a Salesforce record.

Box for Salesforce lets users create new documents, search all Box content, share files quickly across Box, add comments and assign actions to specific documents, and, it gives access to all Box partner apps and file actions within Salesforce.

Big Deal for Box

"The app makes it more convenient for Salesforce customers to use Box," Rob Enderle, principal analyst at The Enderle Group, told us. "Salesforce is a cloud app. Box is a cloud service. Connecting the two of them makes sense. You will undoubtedly have a certain amount of cross over between users. This is a bigger deal for Box than it is for Salesforce.com, but it's useful for both companies."

The Salesforce AppExchange is already the most populated business apps marketplace, with more than 1,800 partner apps and 1.7 million customer installs. And the Salesforce Platform boasts more than 3 million custom apps for social, mobile Relevant Products/Services and the cloud.

For its part, Box has apps for iPad, iPhone, Android and Windows Phone applications. Box also extends to partner applications such as Google Apps and NetSuite, as well as Salesforce.

The Los Altos, California-based firm was founded in 2005 and is backed by a powerhouse combination of venture capital firms: Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Emergence Capital Partners, General Atlantic, Meritech Capital Partners, NEA, Scale Venture Partners, and U.S. Venture Partners. Box also lists enterprise software Relevant Products/Services leader SAP as well as Salesforce.com as "strategic investors."
